Gladstone Area Water Board

Gladstone Area Water Board large website

Gladstone Area Water Board owns and operates Awoonga Dam on the Boyne River along with a network of delivery pipelines, water treatment plants and other bulk water distribution infrastructure in the Gladstone region in Central Queensland. Their purpose is to ensure the long and short term water needs of their customers are met in ways that are environmentally, socially and commercially sustainable.

Gladstone Area Water Board supplies drinking water to its customers via two conventional drinking water treatment plants; one of which is Yarwun Water Treatment Plant. NTP Forklifts Australia recently supplied this plant with a Manitou MX50-4 Rough Terrain Forklift with a 4.7m 2 stage mast attachment.

The Manitou MX50-4 is known for its durability and performance in rough terrain environments. This was a necessity for the Yarwun Water Treatment Plant, as the machine was purchased for the external handling of the pipework. The extra lift height in the mast was to ensure they could access their existing racking inside their storage sheds. The forklift will also be used for unloading chemicals and placing them inside their sheds so it can be added to the storage tanks for water treatment. When handling chemicals it is no surprise, precision and efficiency is paramount. The power and manageability of this machine allows the operator to engage in the job at hand effectively and safely.

Overall, Gladstone Area Water Board was pleased with their new Manitou.
