Mandalay Costerfield Mine

Mandalay Resources 400x400

Mandalay Costerfield Mine is a large gold mine located in Costerfield, Central Victoria. After having a successful year in 2015 by producing and selling a record amount of gold and antimony it was time to upgrade their old two wheel drive forklift to something better suited to rough and slippery conditions.

The Manitou MX50-4 with a side shifting fork position was the perfect forklift for Mandalay Costerfield Mine. The machine is perfectly suited to handling operations on uneven terrain. It is known for their durability and performance even on the steepest sites. It comes equipped with a generous ground clearance as well as a 3.4m turning radius.

The side shifting fork position is a great additional asset on the Manitou MX50-4. The driver no longer is required to manually move the tynes which can raise occupational, health and safety issues, especially in this environment.

The drivers cab windows allow for 360 degree visibility; vital when dealing with rough and uneven conditions. For maximum operator comfort, the suspended cab limits the intensity of vibrations felt. The cabin is also fully air-conditioned which will be appreciated by drivers in the warmer months.

Overall the team at Costerfield mine were pleased with the performance of their new unit. It makes moving loads on slippery hills easier and safer thanks to the full traction.
