MANITOU BUILDS ON ITS CONSTRUCTION SECTOR OFFERINGS

A string of new product announcements and enhancements has bolstered Manitou's already comprehensive range of telescopic handlers and strengthened its standing as a major partner to Australia’s construction sector.

In recent months, local national distributor for Manitou, NTP Forklifts Australia, has introduced the Maniscopic ORH rough terrain materials handling machines, the compact MT 523 telescopic handler and a new pentagonal telescopic boom for Manitou’s MRT 2540 product to the Australian market.

All products, says Marketing Manager at NTP Forklifts Australia, Tom Naffine, are available countrywide via NTP’s extensive distributor network.

"The introductions consolidate Manitou’s already powerful position as the world leader in rough terrain materials handling and a manufacturer of state-of-the-art equipment tailored for the exacting construction industry," he said.

The Maniscopic ORH machines, the MT 1340 and 1740, comply with the country’s stringent design registration standards for access platforms and are the only full range of machines of their kind to enjoy this status in Australia. They combine the functions of standard materials handling and lifting, while offering the bonus of a detachable access platform – or basket – that provides safe working conditions at great heights. The MT 1340 and MT 1740 enjoy a 15-metre and 19-metre working height respectively.

Both have a four-tonne lift capacity and a 365-kilogram basket capacity that comfortably accommodates three people. The hydraulic stabilisers form a wide base and guarantee uniform stability while frame levelling technology allows the chassis to articulate when on rough and uneven terrain.

Turing to the Maniscopic MT 523, Mr Naffine said it represents one of the most compact telescopic handlers in the Manitou family, a feature that, along with manoeuvrability and safety, has led to its favourable reception by the Australian construction industry.

"By combining compactness and manoeuvrability with safety, it delivers the three attributes demanded by building and construction professionals," says Mr Naffine of a machine that boasts an overall height of less than two metres, a width of 1.8 metres, a length of 4.1 metres, a lift height of five metres and a lift capacity of 2,300 kilograms at full height.

“Its stability boosts safety while its versatility makes it ideal for jobs traditionally done by bobcats – working with pallet forks, buckets and other attachments – but with the advantage of lift capacity, lift height and forward reach,” said Mr Naffine.

Completing the new Manitou telescopic handler offerings is the new pentagonal telescopic boom for the MRT 2540.

This technical innovation in the world of lift trucks is protected by a European patent filed by Manitou. Its shape not only provides self-aligning of the various telescoping sections, facilitates settings and improves access to chain tighteners, but it also increases the stiffness of the boom assembly when fully deployed. This means greater accuracy and full handling motion control.
