New drive system gives Taylor-Dunn products a boost

A recently-introduced Drive System designed and engineered to deliver lower operation costs and increase performance is proving to be a major boon for Taylor-Dunn products in Australia.

Local agents for the US-manufactured range of utility vehicles for industrial and commercial applications, NTP Forklifts Australia, report that sales across the range – particularly in the Burden Carrier and Stockchaser lines – have risen sharply since these products were fitted with Taylor-Dunn’s new GT Drive System.

"The new GT Drive System technology found in both the B2-48 Burden Carrier and the SC-100 Stockchaser delivers three major benefits – low operation costs, efficient and quiet performance and consistent driving," explained Damien Garvey, National Sales and Product Manager at NTP Forklifts Australia.

NTP Forklifts Australia has represented the Taylor-Dunn range in most Australian states and territories since the early 1990s and is today one of Taylor-Dunn’s largest international dealers.

"Customers have been impressed by the reduction in maintenance and repair costs, thanks mainly to the GT Drive System comprising fewer parts and no chains or belts. The all-gear drive system adds quietness and efficiency to the operation while regenerative breaking and smooth acceleration ensure a steady, consistent drive, whether climbing or descending," said Mr Garvey.

The Taylor-Dunn B2-48 battery electric Burden Carrier has been particularly well-received in the hospitality and aged care environments. It offers powerful towing capabilities while its unique modular design allows the product to be customised to the most exacting requirements.

The B2-48 can be configured to carry up to 1,800 kg of load while pulling almost 8,000 kg at speeds of up to 25 km/h. The model enjoys a range of 38 km per battery charge.

The Taylor-Dunn SC-100 battery electric Stockchaser, offering a narrow chassis and high manoeuvrability, is seen as a cost-effective solution that delivers improved efficiency in any warehouse environment. Its compact nature brings the operator closer to the materials to be picked while its standard ladder – in four, five or six-step configurations – allows materials to be picked from higher stock locations.

The Stockchaser has a maximum speed of 13 km/h, with a range per battery charge of 38 km. It, too, can be configured to specific application needs – for example, models with the roll out or lift out battery box can provide 24 hours of service in any warehousing application, with the one battery being recharged while the other drives the machine.

Another advantage is the SC-100’s towing capacity of almost 2,300 kg that has seen it find favour in manufacturing environments, most notably those such as the motor industry where assembly lines need to be fed.

An extensive range of Taylor-Dunn trailers, constructed of heavy duty angular steel and with payload capacities of up to 700 kg each, complements the Stockchaser family.
